Poland, August 15-28th 2006
After the Marktoberdorf Summer School (Bavaria, Germany), I had the chance to visit Warsaw again. I was last there five years before these photos, for a fleeting moment, and left for Australia seven years before. I finally got a chance to meet up with my friends of which, I was happy to find, more remained than expected after such a long time.
Very early in the visit something ... happened ... to my camera, and as a result I was left without one. Michał did me a great favour and lent me his. In order to not invite futher misfortune, I did not pull it out too much. Since I remember Warsaw itself pretty well, I mainly wanted photographic memories of my friends. So, here they are:
Went over to see the Asia's new cat and decided to take yet another photo, since I don't trust random passers-by to take good ones :)
Suddenly, in an internet cafe, I was hunted down by my good friend from primary school - Jarek Olechowski. A stroke of great luck, since I lost his contact details somewhere in the flow of time, and no one I knew had them either :/
Park is the student club of SGH. Thursdays are a metal/industrial night. Someone in this picture has not grasped this concept? Can you spot him?
Photogenicity hint: if your skin shows up red when flash is used, do NOT place your face right next to that of a pale girl ... also, Doti might break some of your ribs :) Piter is keeping his distance.
Blues Bar - Kuba, me, Piter. Piter actually got away from work to join us! There was cheering in the streets!
Zalew Zegrzynski (sp?) - Jarek took this photo right after I discovered that the fence was not, in fact, as stable as it looked!
Jarek insisted we stop and take this photo, to demonstrate that something new was in fact built in Warsaw since I was last there. Behold: we have the power to build holes into buildings.
Me, in front of the Grave of the Unknown Soldier."Nieznanego" - should that be Unnamed, Unidentified, perhaps? You get the idea.
Gwiazdeczka: the pretty waitress said something about being "open to all suggestions" (regarding poses for pictures she was taking, but I like the way you think), so I got a picture with her too.
Krzysiek, his son Adam, and Me. Adam was born at 14:40 on the 21st of August, weighing 3kg and measuring 55cm. May he live long and be happy :)
